H2O HEROES
Founded by Firefighters | Monroe, Indiana
Serving Monroe County, Indiana
The H2O Heroes Mission
H2O Heroes is a grassroots safety initiative founded by firefighters
and developed through a partnership between the Monroe Fire
Protection District and Monroe Professional Firefighters Union Local 5343.
As first responders, we are committed to moving beyond emergency response toward proactive
prevention. Our mission is to reduce the incidence of drowning in our community through professional
education and the expanded availability of life-saving equipment.

A Foundation of Professional Experience
Our programs are rooted in the real-world experience of the fire service. By bridging the gap between
public safety and community education, we provide the tools necessary to mitigate risk on our local
waterways.
Core Initiatives
• Water Safety Education: We provide families, schools, and organizations with vetted, evidencebased
safety protocols. We focus on the "Layers of Protection"—practical steps that help prevent
accidents before they occur.
• PFD Accessibility: We believe a Life Jacket should never be out of reach. We work to ensure that
U.S. Coast Guard-approved Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) are available to the public
through managed loaner stations and community distribution programs.
Our Commitment to Monroe
While the risk of drowning can never be fully eliminated, it can be significantly reduced through education
and proper equipment. H2O Heroes stands as a professional resource for our neighbors, built on the
experience and service of the Monroe Fire Protection District.
